Starting in June 2017, six new limited series that take viewers to some of the world’s most amazing places and cultures will premiere on CPTV. This strong lineup of history, science, and natural history programming kicks off the “PBS Summer of Adventure.”

The lineup includes The Story of China (Tuesdays, June 20, June 27, and July 11, 8-10 p.m.), an exploration of China’s 4,000-year history, featuring Michael Wood; and Big Pacific (Wednesdays, June 21-July 19, 8-9 p.m.), which reveals the Pacific Ocean’s most guarded secrets with footage from some of the best cinematographers from around the globe.

PBS Summer of Adventure also explores some of the world’s wildest and most threatened places with Rare – Creatures of the Photo Ark (Tuesdays, July 18-August 1, 9-10 p.m.), following National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore. Plus, Nature’s Great Race (Wednesdays, July 12-26, 9-10 p.m.), is a BBC co-production in which scientific teams utilize new technology to track animals of the Arctic wilderness and African bush.

Weekend in Havana (Tuesday, July 18, 8-9 p.m.) accompanies Geoffrey Baer on a walking tour through Cuba, meeting singers, dancers, chefs, and more in Havana, with a focus on the people, architecture, culture, and history of the country just re-opened to Americans.

Finally, Great Yellowstone Thaw (Wednesdays, June 21, June 28, and July 5, 9-10 p.m.), a BBC co-production, showcases the stories of four different animal families as they attempt to survive the toughest spring on Earth.
