Follow 8 Drivers Over 6 Months. See What Can Happen in just 3 Seconds Behind the Wheel.
A New Documentary and Podcast Series
3 Seconds Behind the Wheel follows the lives of eight drivers over six months. In-car cameras and tracking technology show the true behavior of distracted drivers, and its consequences.
Why three seconds?
Three seconds are all it takes to send a message, pick a song, ... or drive the length of a football field.
Producers gathered hundreds of hours of footage from drivers in Connecticut and Florida ranging in age from 18 to 65.
Monitoring equipment, data storage, expert analysis and plain, old-fashioned advice was contributed by MIT, Cambridge Mobile Telematics, Safety Track and the University of Connecticut.
Jennifer Boyd, Producer, Director and Writer, says, “While many of these drivers' habits will shock you, this is a very honest and intimate look at human behavior."
Learn About Emerging Technology Solutions
3 Seconds Behind the Wheel also gives a firsthand look at the emerging technologies that could one day mitigate rising crash statistics. Watch it and experience a brand-new driving simulator at Google, where researchers are developing next gen in-car infotainment systems.
There is even new technology that may one day allow cars to understand our emotions and make driving decisions accordingly.
