Christian Paley has been named the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week for the second time. Paley is only the fourth Connecticut High School student-athlete to win the award twice.

The senior feasted on Granby Memorial in two games this week, scoring 11 goals. Somers defeated Granby 22-7 Monday and then 18-6 on Friday. Paley scored six goals in the first game and then five goals in the next. Somers has outscored teams 116-25 this season (6-0). Christian has 368 career points. Only seven other American players have managed more than 400 and he is in the top four all-time in Connecticut for points scored.

Frankie Graziano interviewed Christian Paley on the natural grass field of Somers High School, which you will soon be able to watch above. They discussed Paley’s season and the Spartans’ drive for a second consecutive state title. Also, Somers High is just the third school that can say that it is home to three UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week awards. Paley spoke about what it meant to be supported by the people of Somers.

Voting was introduced in the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week poll in October of 2014. Since that time, over 80 winners have been crowned from 50 different towns. 300,000-plus votes have been cast in that time in support of our student-athletes recognized for their fine play on a weekly basis. Fans may participate in a given poll each Saturday at 6 p.m. until Monday night at 6 p.m.
