St. Paul Catholic (Bristol) Girls High School Basketball star Janessa Gonzalez is this week’s UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week. The freshman garnered 56% vote to win CPTV’s statewide award. 6,466 votes were cast in this week’s poll!

Gonzalez helped the Falcons remain unbeaten last Friday by putting up 21 points and 10 rebounds in a 55-46 clipping of Seymour. St. Paul is 8-0 in 2016-2017.

Host Frankie Graziano interviewed Gonzalez at her school, which you can watch in the above video player. Janessa takes the bus every day–30 minutes away from Meriden– to get to Bristol’s St. Paul Catholic High School each day. Oh–and she’s a freshman!

Voting was introduced in the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week poll in October of 2014. Since that time, over 70 winners have been crowned from 50 different towns. 250,000-plus votes have been cast in that time in support of our student-athletes recognized for their fine play on a weekly basis. Fans may participate in a given poll each Saturday at 6 p.m. until Monday night at 6 p.m.
