New Fairfield Girls Basketball star Kristen Teklits captured 46% of the year’s first UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week vote to win the CPTV’s statewide award.

Teklits scored 18 points in Wednesday’s 39-25 win over Danbury in the News-Times Greater Danbury Holiday Festival championship game. The Rebels won the event for the second-consecutive year. Kristen contributed 13 points in Monday’s first round matchup vs. New Milford. The 6-0 Rebels dominated Watertown 51-28 on the road, Friday.

Host Frankie Graziano interviewed Teklits at her school, which you can watch in the above video player. She discussed her recent entry into the school’s 1,000 point club and her decision to play at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County at the next level.

Voting was introduced in the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week poll in October of 2014. Since that time, over 70 winners have been crowned from 50 different towns. 250,000-plus votes have been cast in that time in support of our student-athletes recognized for their fine play on a weekly basis. Fans may participate in a given poll each Saturday at 6 p.m. until Monday night at 6 p.m.
