Sean Penney is the winner of the most voted upon CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week poll in history. The Simsbury Boys Lacrosse star received 50% of the 440,740 votes cast.

The senior scored four goals, including the game-winner in overtime as the Trojans edged Guilford in their season opener Saturday, 8-7.

Frankie Graziano interviewed Sean Penney at Simsbury’s Holden Field, which you can watch above, to talk about winning the award and scoring the game-winner against Guilford. The two also discuss Penney’s big college plans to play more than just college lacrosse at Wesleyan University.

Voting was introduced in the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week poll in October of 2014. Since that time, over 80 winners have been crowned from 50 different towns. 300,000-plus votes have been cast in that time in support of our student-athletes recognized for their fine play on a weekly basis. Fans may participate in a given poll each Saturday at 6 p.m. until Monday night at 6 p.m.
