Matt Hayes (center) with his parents, Greg and Rene

Watch the inspiring true story of Matt Hayes, a young man living with autism. He cannot communicate the way others do, but he is intelligent, sensitive, and passionate about helping others who share his struggles.

Meet Matt’s family and learn how, with their help, Matt uses a method called “facilitated communication” that enables him to express thoughts and ideas when he would otherwise be trapped in silence. Matt feels strongly enough about this method to advocate for its use.

As Matt explains, “If I wake up and see that I can teach someone to treat their silent family member or neighbor as an equally intelligent person, I have moved the needle of change.”
