Dev Ostrowski (G) – East Lyme Boys Basketball

The sophomore guard’s 41 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals, Thursday, led No. 6 East Lyme to a 66-63 upset of No. 3 Norwich Free Academy in the quarterfinal round of the ECC tournament. According to the Norwich Bulletin, 16 of his Dev’s 41 points came in the fourth quarter.

Tremont Waters (G) – Notre Dame-West Haven Green Knights

The senior joined the rare 2,000-point club with 21 points against Cheshire, Saturday. No. 1 Notre Dame bested No. 9 Cheshire in the SCC Quarterfinals, 59-45. Many of his 2,000 points came when he played for South Kent in the NEPSAC League. His move to the Green Knights for his senior year helped Notre Dame to its first-ever undefeated regular season. Tremont put up 24 points in a 69-54 win over West Haven in the regular season finale to clinch that mark. Waters was honored before the game by the Jordan Brand Classic. He will play in this all-star game on April 14 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Hunter Baillargeon (G) – St. Bernard (Uncasville) Boys Basketball

Junior Baillargeon pump-faked once and let the ball fly with a second left on the clock. It hit the rim, bounced and then dropped through to give fourth-seeded St. Bernard the 41-38 win over fifth-seeded Griswold in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II quarterfinal game Thursday. “I wanted to help the team out because I knew this was going to be a big win for us. I’m just glad they’re happy. I’m happy, obviously,” Baillargeon (19 points) said.

Tahjae Young (G) – Achievement First Girls Basketball

She’s a freshman! The 5’10” guard propelled Achievement First to the Capitol Region Athletic League title as the team overcame HMTCA, 38-30 Thursday. Young had 23 of the team’s 38 points and posted a triple-double:14 rebounds, and 10 steals. This performance came after Young had 19 points and 17 steals in a game vs. MLC last week.

Erin Carucci (G) – Suffield Girls Basketball

She’s also a freshman! Guard Erin Carucci helped Suffield to its first NCCC tournament championship since 2005, scoring a game-high 21 points in the Wildcats 53-29 trouncing of East Windsor, Thursday. Taylor Nowak (F) – West Haven/Sacred Heart Academy Girls Ice Hockey

Taylor Nowak put forth a hat-trick, Friday, as the West Haven-Sacred Heart Academy co-op girls Hockey team won its first-ever SCC Division II title.  According to Dan Nowak of GameTimeCT.com, Taylor had 13 of the Westies/Sharks 28 shots in the 4-1 victory over Amity/North Haven/Cheshire.
