All eligible unemployment claimants will begin to receive an extra $300 supplement starting next week. Extensions for all pandemic related unemployment programs have also gone into effect under the second CARES Act. The programs initially expired Dec. 26. Despite timing concerns of the extensions, Commissioner Kurt Westby from the state Department of Labor said most claimants will not miss a week of benefits. Claimants should begin to see the supplement after filing their claims starting Jan. 3. The program will end March 13.
