All New London schools have switched to full remote learning this week because of two positive coronavirus cases last Thursday. The Day reports the school district said it needs more time to conduct contact tracing for the two cases. Ansonia Middle School has also gone full remote learning until Nov. 18. Hearst Connecticut reports the decision came a few days after 30 students and three staff members were asked to quarantine because of possible COVID exposure. Superintendent Joseph DiBacco says it’s getting harder to keep schools open not only because of quarantine restrictions, but also closures in neighboring towns affecting staff members who are also parents. Meanwhile in Seymour, all schools have also shut down until Nov.30. However Hearst Connecticut reports the closure might not be coronavirus related. Instead the closure comes days after police opened an investigation into a potential threat against the district.
