Disrupting Gender Inequity With Connecticut Public’s Khalilah Brown-Dean

Eleven percent of women live in poverty in Connecticut. Eviction levels, which disproportionately affect women, are higher than they were pre-pandemic. The number of spaces available in daycare centers decreased from 2019 to 2022, forcing some women to reduce their work hours or drop out of the workforce altogether.

At this live event, Disrupted host Khalilah Brown-Dean talks to panelists about the economic inequities faced by women, especially women of color, since the start of the pandemic. We’ll focus on childcare, housing, and economic mobility as we look at the data and what we can do to make a change.

We’ll also hear from Executive Director of CTData Collaborative, Michelle Riordan-Nold, and end with audience Q&A. The free event will start at 6 p.m. on November 14 at the Mt. Carmel Auditorium on Quinnipiac University’s campus.

The panel coincides with the release of a new report created by CTData Collaborative, funded by Aurora Foundation and partners across Connecticut. The report, titled “Elusive Equity: Continuing Effects of the Pandemic on Women’s Economic Security,” shows us new data on how women are faring.
