LITCHFIELD COUNTY, JUMPING BOUNDARIES:
ARTISTS AND FRIENDS IN A GROWING CREATIVE COMMUNITY

Litchfield County, Jumping Boundaries is a snapshot of a growing creative community that includes those who were born here, those who have been here for decades, and those who have arrived in the past few years. It also includes friends of local artists who have visited on a regular basis over a long period of time, and to whom the area has become very familiar.
Taking “Landscapes, Farms, and Natural Life” as a prompt, these artists have responded in a multitude of ways, at times twisting the subject to a new perspective, at times turning it inside-out.
Alofft Gallery, owned and directed by Craig Connolly, arrived on the green in Litchfield last summer, and seeks to stimulate ties between generations, and introduce the old guard to the new guard, by graciously offering to host this show. Twenty percent of the proceeds from this exhibition will go to Partners for Sustainable Healthy Communities, a fund for independent farmers in Litchfield County, helping farmers to develop new best practices, pay for equipment and repairs, and occasionally cover medical costs.

Participating artists are:
Kristin Baker, Joy Brown, Marsha Cottrell, Carl D’Alvia, Seth Dembar, Carroll Dunham, Greg Goldberg, Cleve Gray, Luke Gray, Amy Grosclaude, Logan Sinclaire Grosclaude, Karl Hartman, Bryan LeBoeuf, Julian Lethbridge, Albert MaGuire, Mark Mennin, Rebecca Miller, Dan Murray, Dorke Poelz-Gray, Tim Prentice, Lucas Reiner, Alexis Rockman, David Salle, Laurie Simmons, David Skora, Greg St. John, Philip Taaffe, Frederic Tuten, Sally Van Doren, Jorge Vascano, Titus Welliver, and Alan Wiener

Show dates July 8th- August 27th, 2023

The exhibition is dedicated to Jacques Kaplan, who opened the first contemporary art gallery in Litchfield County in 1984, and for whose initiative we are all grateful. It includes artists that knew him and exhibited with him, together with those that arrived in the county more recently, but are honored to carry on his legacy..
