TransCend Choir free performance at The Silo
November 11 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
It is our pleasure to invite you to an extraordinary performance by TransCend Vocal Choir, New York’s pioneering transgender choir. As the first trans/gender-expansive classical vocal ensemble in the city, TransCend has established a distinctive space for exploring the unique soundscapes of trans and other gender-atypical voices.
Hopeful Horizons not only celebrates The Silo’s 51st anniversary but also honors Veterans Day, paying tribute to all who have served our country, including the brave transgender individuals among their ranks.
Our event, Hopeful Horizons, serves as a platform to foster inclusivity and acceptance, especially as we look forward to the commencement of Transgender Awareness Week on November 13th. We acknowledge the remarkable contributions of our 134,000 transgender veterans, as well as the estimated 15,500 transgender individuals presently serving in the US armed forces.
Join us from 1pm at the Silo Gallery, where you can enjoy delicious refreshments, view a curated art exhibit, and engage with our guest speakers. The excitement will build as TransCend commences their vocal warm-up, leading up to a spectacular performance in the Great Room of our historic 1836 barn.
We are thrilled to extend this invitation to one and all for this grand celebration of diversity, unity, and music. While admission is entirely free, we have limited availability with only 60 tickets on offer. In the spirit of community support, we kindly request each attendee to bring a minimum of 1lb of non-perishable food. These donations will be given to local food banks after the event.
Join us at Hopeful Horizons, where we celebrate the power of diverse voices, honor those who have courageously served our nation, and look forward to a future filled with acceptance and respect.
This event is made possible thanks to the generosity and support of our friends at Health Care Advocates International.
