Erin Girard received 50 percent of the vote to become CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week. The star freshman is a pitcher for Bristol Eastern High School Softball.

Girard had herself a day in a 17-0 drubbing of Avon Monday. She struck out each of the fifteen batters she faced—a perfect game in five innings. According to Sports on CT-69’s Kevin Roberts, she threw 46 strikes out of 60 pitches. She was also three-for-four at the plate with four RBI.

CPTV’s Frankie Graziano sat with Girard on the Lancers’ Softball field and talked about her start to her high school career. They also discussed her pitching repertoire and what instrument she plays in the school band, which you can watch above.

Voting was introduced in the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week poll in October of 2014. Since that time, over 80 winners have been crowned from 50 different towns. 300,000-plus votes have been cast in that time in support of our student-athletes recognized for their fine play on a weekly basis. Fans may participate in a given poll each Saturday at 6 p.m. until Monday night at 6 p.m.
