Waterford pitcher Mike Burrows is the final CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week from the 2016-17 school year. The junior received 43% of this week’s votes.

The UConn-commit carried the Lancers to a state Baseball championship Friday night shutting out Lewis Mills Regional (Burlington) 4-0, while striking out 15 and walking one. He allowed two hits. And he hit an RBI double in the game.

The 6’2″, 180-pound righty hit a solo homer in a semifinals victory last Wednesday over St. Joseph.

Burrows explained the importance of the 10th state title for Waterford Baseball to CPTV’s Frankie Graziano when he visited Waterford for the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week profile.

Voting was introduced in the CPTV UChoose Student-Athlete of the Week poll in October of 2014. Since that time, over 80 winners have been crowned from 50 different towns. 300,000-plus votes have been cast in that time in support of our student-athletes recognized for their fine play on a weekly basis. Fans may participate in a given poll each Saturday at 6 p.m. until Monday night at 6 p.m.
