The Story of China, written and presented by historian Michael Wood, explores the history of the world’s oldest continuous state, from the ancient past to the present day. The series – part of PBS’ Summer of Adventure – airs on CPTV on Tuesdays from 8 to 10 p.m. on June 20, June 27, and July 11.

Home to over a billion people, China is the new superpower. To understand the country, Wood argues that we have to look at its history. Travelling across China, he explores the landscapes, peoples, stories, and cultures that have helped create its distinctive character and genius over more than 4,000 years.
